Uncomfortable Strangers

I want to throw my arms around you, to close the miserable distance between us, but that wouldn’t help our situation. There is a part of me that wants to turn and walk away. Such a moment between two people, so filled with awkwardness as we watch each other as strangers, while still conscious of the fact that the person standing in front of me knows every inch of my body as if it were his own. Lovers who are no longer lovers, this happens all the time. Our vast planet turns and spins around us. Kharma thrusts us together and fate smiles it’s devious smile when we believe we could be lovers for eternity. Who are we to believe love overcomes everything? You were once the brightest part of my day, now an uncomfortable stranger. I loved you, did you love me?
